I’m learning about plant and animal cells in my class and my teacher asked us to create a model of one of these for a project. Do you know what the cool part was? It had to be edible! I decided to make mine out of a cake and use candy and icing as the organelles. Watch my video to see what I created and let me know what you think of my incredible edible cell.
If I couldn’t listen to music I don’t know what I’d do. When music is playing I just want to dance and sing. I like rock music best but country music and some fast classical music are also good to dance and sing to.
Music is played in my house a lot. It’s been like that ever since I was a baby, but it was probably like that even before I was born. Ever since my dad got his iPod music is played even more. My whole family likes it and dances and sings with each other. That sounds a little crazy but it’s so much fun. I like seeing my family’s different dances and when my dad pretends he’s a rock star it’s pretty funny. Sometimes I break dance and my sister likes to do ballet. My little brother likes to look like a rapper which is hilarious because he’s only 4. My mom likes to dance with us and spin us around. Sometimes she dances all crazy and makes us laugh. My dad likes to pick us up and then he dances while he sings to us. I’m getting a little too big to be picked up so that really doesn’t happen for me anymore. That’s OK though because I still like to dance on my own.
There are lots of really good songs that I love to listen to more than others. Three of my favourite bands are The Killers, Nickelback and Green Day because I like their sound and they have a strong beat in a lot of their music. I don’t really have a favourite Killers song because I like them all. I like some more than others like The River is Wild, Spaceman, and Read My Mind. Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Wake me up when September ends, Know your Enemy, 21 guns and American Idiot are my Green Day favourites and Saving Me and Gotta Be Somebody are the Nickleback songs that I like best. I have to be careful when I sing some Nickleback songs because they sometimes swear so I either lip synch them or not just pretend they aren’t there. That way I won’t get into trouble or people might think I’m a rude kid and I don’t want my little sister and brother to learn these words from me. When I play these songs they make me feel happy and I just want to sing! There are other songs I like from Marianas Trench, Stabilo, The Watchmen, Hinder and other bands too, but if I listed all of the songs that I like it would probably take a month to write them all down. Who wants to sit and write for that long? Not me. That’s for sure.
On my last birthday I got an mp3 player too so I can listen to these songs whenever I want. I have to get better at remembering where I put it last and to recharge it so I can play them whenever I want to listen to music. Since I can take my mp3 player anywhere I just need to remember where I am because suddenly singing and dancing in Wal-Mart or Superstore might seem a little wierd.
Do you know why this Christmas was my best Christmas ever? I had two Christmases, one with my family and one with my grandpa at my home.On Christmas I was so excited. I woke up my dad and mom first thing in the morning. We were allowed to open up our stockings first. They were on the railing upstairs and our tree was downstairs. My brother, my sister and I ripped open our stocking presents as if we were paper shredders. In a few minutes, it looked like our table was made of wrapping paper because the wrapping paper was all over the place!
After, we rushed downstairs and I was surprised by how many presents there were. My mouth fell open. Here are some of my presents. I got some Lego Power Miners, a computer game called Spore, some shirts, a robe, the game Stratego, two books in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and some people for the board game Heroscape.
When my grandpa came over on New Year’s Eve day he brought more presents. I like him coming because he brings us lots of stuff and I like to spend time with him. Usually we go to his place but my auntie was in a hockey tournament near us. She is15 years old. After my grandpa and his family got to our house, we first opened our birthday gifts because he didn’t send my brother and sister’s when they had their birthdays in October and mine was coming up soon. Then, we opened our Christmas gifts. I got a magnifying glass, bug glasses, another DS game that I already have, a hockey bag (but he forgot it at home and had to send it up later). After we opened all of our gifts it was only 3 hours away from the next year!
I played some Wii and ate snacks until it was almost 12:00 am. When we’re at my grandpa’s, at midnight we’re allowed to bang pots and pans outside on his front yard. He lets us make lots of noise because he doesn’t like his neighbours. Because we were celebrating New Years at our house my mom let us do this as well, but we didn’t do it too much because we like our neighbours. I got to stay up up until 2:30am that night!
